The Garage Door Sessions 1
It was too nice to work at my desk today, so I rolled up the door to the studio for some impromptu portraits. I sent the word out on Instagram and invited passers-by off the street. Almost thirty people came in over the course of a few hours and these are a few of my favorites.

SXSW 2013 for Converse
Great times in Austin, covering SXSW for Converse. They sponsored 2 major venues; The Fader Fort and Thrasher Death Match as well as Converse Rubber Tracks, a pop-up music studio where they hosted some great secret shows and video shoots in addition to recording local bands for free.

Thank You Les Blank
The venerable filmmaker Les Blank passed away today. I was fortunate enough to meet him at one of chef, Leif Hedendal’s Dinner Discussions that I was photographing for Kinfolk Magazine. I didn’t know who he was at the time and was blown away when I began to delve into his career. At one point during the meal, he took interest in some of my tattoos. I showed him my work, assuming he didn’t know many tattooed people and he proceeded to roll up his sleeves and show me a few that were done by his friend, Ed Hardy. Very impressive. Later that night, after Les had left, a few of us were trying to ascertain his age. Eventually we checked his Wikipedia and it turned out that it was his birthday and he hadn’t bothered to mention it. We called him and left a birthday message on his voice mail. I regret not pulling him aside to make a portrait. I didn’t know who I was dealing with at the time.
In Print: Most dangerous Object in the Office for WIRED
This nautical safety device can shoot a rope approximately 1000 feet with the help of the solid rocket fuel contained within. We had hoped to secure a boat and actually discharge it for the shoot, but alas, we wound up in the supply closet.
